Charlie Stein is a multidisciplinary artist, writer, and cultural theorist whose work explores the uneasy entanglements between technology, identity, and the human condition. Bridging painting, installation, text, and AI-based collaboration, Stein navigates themes of embodiment, intimacy, and digital surrealism to question what it means to exist - and persist - in a technologically mediated world.
With formal training in sociology and fine arts, Stein crafts thoughtful, layered experiences that move between the virtual and the physical, the personal and the political. Her work has been exhibited globally, including at Manifesta, and was featured in the ISCP x Almine Rech benefit auction 2025. She is an ISCP fellow in New York and has taught at institutions such as CalArts, Pratt Institute, Berlin’s UdK, and HfbK Hamburg as a guest professor representing Jorinde Voigt’s class.
