Megann Lawlor

Megann Lawlor (b. 2001, Chicago, IL) is a printmaker based between Brooklyn and Chicago. Her print practice is anchored by humor and an attempt to interpret everyday activities through askew imagery. Composed of moments of connection, often revealed through a figure’s direct gaze or a hidden image waiting to be discovered, her fragmented narratives resist straightforward interpretation, inviting viewers to move between curiosity, confusion, and recognition.

Lawlor has studied and worked at Hyde Park Art Center, Paris College of Art, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, where she earned a BFA and a BS in Biology in 2024. Her work has been exhibited in Chicago, Boston, and New York. She developed this body of lithographs at the Art Students League of New York, where she explored the expressive possibilities of the medium. Using gum arabic to block out areas of the limestone before drawing the image, Lawlor creates prints defined by bold lines and intricate negative space.
